Legal

This page combines the legal notice and privacy policy for this website. Both parts remain clearly separated, but are intentionally bundled on one low-visibility page linked from the footer.

Impressum / Legal Notice

This legal notice is structured for a Germany-based professional portfolio website and follows the usual disclosure pattern for Section 5 DDG together with other conditional disclosures that may become necessary in individual cases.

Business profile

Activity
Professional portfolio and business website for freelance software engineering, IT architecture, and AI consulting.

Consumer dispute resolution

I am neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

The former EU online dispute resolution platform was discontinued with effect from July 20, 2025 by Regulation (EU) 2024/3228, so it is intentionally not linked here.

Additional notes

Further disclosures such as a commercial register entry, VAT ID, supervisory authority, chamber details, or an editorially responsible person under Section 18(2) MStV must be added as soon as they apply to this website.

Separate privacy information is typically still required for the contact form, hosting, browser storage, and any other personal-data processing.

Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to this website at https://chingis.dev. It is tailored to the site's current setup: hosting on Vercel, no embedded web analytics, storage of the language preference in a cookie, and an optional contact form that is processed by a first-party serverless function on Vercel and delivered via SMTP to the controller's mailbox.

Hosting via Vercel

Provider
Vercel Inc.
Purpose
Providing the website, delivering content, and maintaining stability and security.
Processed data
When the website is accessed, technically necessary connection and request metadata may be processed, such as IP address, requested URL, date and time, referrer, and information about browser and operating system.
Legal basis
Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website.
Recipients

Vercel Inc. as hosting and delivery provider. Further information is available in the Vercel Privacy Policy.

Vercel Privacy Policy

Cookies and consent

Note
This website currently does not automatically load analytics, marketing, or other non-essential third-party content when the page opens. The optional SoundCloud audio player stays blocked by default and is loaded only after your explicit choice. For that reason, the site currently does not use a general cookie banner.

Audio player via SoundCloud

Provider
SoundCloud
Purpose
Providing the optional audio player and playing the SoundCloud content you choose.
Processed data
Only after your active approval is a connection to SoundCloud established. In that process, SoundCloud may process in particular your IP address, browser and device information, referrer data, usage data, and cookies or similar identifiers set by SoundCloud.
Legal basis
Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25 para. 1 TDDDG. The integration is activated only after your explicit consent by clicking the enable control in the player.
Recipients

SoundCloud Global Limited & Co. KG and affiliated SoundCloud companies as the provider of the audio service.

Depending on the technical setup, transfers of personal data to third countries, in particular the United States, cannot be ruled out. The controlling details are set out in SoundCloud's privacy information.

SoundCloud Privacy Policy

Language preference in the browser

Purpose
Saving your chosen language so the website can be shown in that language on later visits.
Processed data
Only a cookie (`NEXT_LOCALE`) holding the chosen language is stored in the browser.
Legal basis
Section 25 para. 2 TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Recipients
No third-party disclosure takes place through this storage action itself.
Storage period
Until the cookie expires, you delete it, change the language, or reset your browser cookies.

Contact form

Purpose
Handling and responding to your inquiry.
Processed data
The information you enter into the form, especially name, email address, and message. To prevent abuse and spam, technical request metadata (in particular IP address and user-agent) is additionally processed in the serverless function's memory for roughly 30 seconds (rate limit) and is not stored thereafter.
Legal basis
Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request concerns pre-contractual communication; otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest covers responding to your inquiry and protecting the form against automated abuse.
Recipients

The message is processed by a first-party serverless function on the Vercel hosting platform (see the "Hosting via Vercel" section) and then delivered via SMTP to the mailbox listed in the Impressum. The recipient is exclusively the controller; the message is no longer forwarded to EmailJS or comparable third parties.

The form processing itself does not entail a transfer to third countries. Any third-country implications can only arise from the email provider used by the controller to receive the message.

Storage duration

The language cookie remains until you delete it or change the language. Contact-form messages are retained only as long as needed to handle the request unless statutory retention duties or overriding legitimate interests require longer storage.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you generally have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing based on legitimate interests. If processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
